Geoscientists Certificate
Online continuing education (Coming Soon!)
This sequence of five modules is developed specifically for practicing engineering geologists. These modules can be used to help fulfill the continuing education requirement for licensed geoscientists in the State of Texas. The five modules are:
- Principles of Engineering Geomorphology
- Fluvial Geomorphology for Engineering Geologists
- Applied Fluvial Geomorphology for Engineering Geologists
- Forensic Geomorphology for Engineering Geologists
- Ethics for Engineering Geologists
Principles of Engineering Geomorphology
This module provides both theory and application for understanding of the processes that shape the surface of Earth. It deals with the understanding of the mechanics of how these processes operate. Although all the geomorphic processes are covered in this program, specific attention is given to those processes the engineering geologist will deal with in Texas. Want to know more? Applied Fluvial Geomorphology for Engineering Geologists
This mdoule presents a view of surface water from the individual channel to the watershed. It examines hydrology, channel forms and dynamics, fluvial landforms, and human intervention of stream channels and floodplains. Want to know more? Please notify me when this course launches!

River Restoration for Engineering Geologists
This module studies field techniques used for stream studies. Stream classification schemes are examined. A major focus of the module is study of the various techniques used in stream restoration with direct application for geoscientists working in Texas. Want to know more? Please notify me when this course launches!
Forensic Geomorphology for Engineering Geologists
This module provides through the use of case studies the application of the principles of process geomorphology to recreate “the scene” of a geomorphological events, i.e. floods, landslides, coastal erosion, stream bank erosion, etc. Want to know more? Please notify me when this course launches!
Ethics for Engineering Geologists
This module presents a review and overview the general principles of ethics, the relationship of registered geoscientist to the public, relationship of the registered geoscientists to the employer and the client and relationship of the registered geoscientist to other registered geoscientists. Through the use of case studies the registered geoscientist is given the opportunity to learn to make ethical-based decisions. Want to know more? Please notify me when this course launches!
