Online Program Description

A track-specific Ethics program is available for three tracks: Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy, Therapeutic Riding, and Hippotherapy.

To begin to define ethics may be easier by defining what ethics is not. Ethics is not about or the same as religion. Ethics is not the same as following the law. Ethics is not a matter of following one's feelings. In fact, feelings often deviate from what is ethical.

So, what is ethics? This program begins by identifying the three categories of ethics -- descriptive, normative, and analytical -- and continues with ethical behavior-examples in each element as follows:

  • Ethical culture
  • Organizational ethics
      • Conflict of interest
      • Financial ethics
      • Sexual harassment
      • Discrimination
      • Whistleblowers
  • Plagiarism
  • Ethical behavior and the Internet
  • Each track-specific program also looks at the effects of applying or not applying ethics in an organization. Then, it takes ethics one step further and correlates being ethical to each introductory program in the corresponding Equine Facilitated Activities and Therapy track:
      • Ethics in Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy
      • Ethics in Foundations of Hippotherapy
      • Ethics in Therapeutic Riding
